NYC rock quartet The Thing have dropped their new single, ‘Can You Help Me?’. The track is a staple of the band’s live show, with the band members switching positions on stage to alternate lead vocal duties for each of the three verses. The end result is punchy and unpredictable, while maintaining their signature sound: catchy and melodic, but filled with the raw punch of guitars recorded analogue, directly onto tape without a computer in sight. The inspiration for the track “stems from the feeling of discontentment when you have other people do things for you. Whether it is having other people ‘give you a song’ or control your thoughts and life.” ‘Can You Help Me?’ has been released alongside ‘Family Business’, a drier, more angular cut.
